Abstract
Dans cet article, après une brève biographie de Afaf Ibrahim Meleis, nous décrirons les éléments principaux de sa théorie des transitions. Après avoir présenté les fondements théoriques ainsi que les principaux concepts et les postulats, nous aborderons les buts et les transpositions possibles, tant d’un point de vue pédagogique que sociétal. Grâce à trois exemples d’applications, nous argumenterons en quoi cette théorie est à la fois une méthode, un processus de réflexion dans et sur les soins.
In this article, after a brief biography of Afaf Ibrahim Meleis, we will describe the main elements of her transitions theory. After presenting its theoretical underpinnings, as well as its main concepts and postulates, we will discuss the theory’s aims and possible applications from both a pedagogical and a societal point of view. Using three examples of practical applications, we will argue how this theory is both a method and a process of reflection within and about nursing care.
