Abstract

Advances in the design of flexible structures combined with the use of voice-coil motors allow the realization of positioning and manipulation systems with unprecedented characteristics. In this paper a portable surface inspection system is presented. This system is an atomic force microscope, which is suited for inspecting surfaces of interest in an industrial environment. It combines portability, a high resolution, and a surface scanning range of 1×1mm2 which is relevant for industrial applications.
