Résumé

Swiss entrepreneurial ecosystem is a complex culturally-diverse foundation for startups where accelerators act as intermediaries in fostering talent retention initiatives. Additionally, as the risks arise, accelerators become an immediate part of a startup’s success or failure, playing a guiding role in its development. The research is focused on the elements of accelerators and the ecosystem aiding a startup alongside potential disadvantages that could make it fail. Three culturally-diverse parts of Switzerland are in question connecting 30 interviews data from 13 major accelerators, one governmental organisation boosting entrepreneurship and innovation Innosuisse, Fondazione Agire, and other actors. Using the qualitative framework by D. Gioia (2013), three pillars were identified as the startup success factors provided by the accelerators in Switzerland: knowledge (entrepreneurial collaborative learning inside an accelerator), network (‘warm’ networking opportunity) and funding.
