Switzerland disposes of a large number of inventories listing valuable landscapes and tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Although many tourists increasingly long for authentic experiences including the nature and the culture of the holiday region, tourism destinations only partially validate the natural and cultural heritage listed in those manifold inventories. The existing inventories in Switzerland have a very rich potential to develop innovative and attractive offers for a sustainable tourism and it seems to be of particular importance to present the potential and some good examples in the present article.
