Abstract

PAL is a ready-to-use library for cartographic label placement under free software licence developed at the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO). Designed for multi-layers and real-time labelling of maps, it is based on a combinational optimisation approach and provides excellent results, both in terms of execution time and solution quality.
