Cet article propose une analyse des façons dont le fait de ressentir ou non une émotion, de l’exprimer, mais aussi de justifier ce ressenti ou son absence, modifie les contours d’une communauté concrète – en l’occurrence une communauté de patients en psychiatrie – ou symbolique, à savoir la communauté des êtres raisonnables. L’analyse s’appuie sur des données d’observations dans une unité psychiatrique de réhabilitation suite à l’annonce du suicide de l’un des patients.

This article proposes an analysis of the ways in which feeling an emotion or not, expressing it, but also justifying this feeling or its absence, modifies the contours of a real community – in this case a community of patients in psychiatry – or a symbolic community, namely the community of reasonable beings. The analysis is based on observation data from a psychiatric rehabilitation unit following the announcement of the suicide of one of the patients.
