Résumé

This chapter discusses the basic principles of person-centred care (PCC) in healthcare and radiography, in particular. It also explores the critical need to adopt a person-centred and personalised care approach when developing and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in radiography. Patient autonomy, freedom of choice, respect for personal preferences and optimal communication throughout are paramount. This chapter also explores the role of coproduction in conjunction with values-based practice as critical approaches to engaging with service users. Thus, they are valued as a central tenant of effective AI technology implementation. Education of both practitioners and patients on AI benefits and risks are essential to help them have a balanced view and enable them to formulate their own perspectives about potential uses in their care, free from misinformation or scaremongering.
