The use of digital technologies to serve business operations and drive comprehensive digital transformation has become a critical strategic challenge for enterprises. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face significant challenges in digital transformation, often lacking the structured approaches needed to develop coherent transformation roadmaps. Beyond financial and time constraints, SMEs struggle with the absence of methodological frameworks to support the development of comprehensive digital transformation roadmaps. This paper introduces the Digital TAG (Transformation Assessment and Guidance) Canvas, an AI-powered collaborative tool designed to support SMEs in developing their digital transformation roadmaps. Inspired by the Business Model Canvas, the Digital TAG Canvas provides a structured, visual framework enabling key stakeholders—employees, management, and expert consultants when available—to collaboratively map their digital transformation journey. The canvas can activate an intelligent agent that helps guide the roadmap development process, providing contextual guidance and identifying strategic pathways based on organizational constraints. The research presents the design methodology and a functional MVP of the Digital TAG Canvas, demonstrating how SMEs can bridge the gap between digital ambition and practical implementation. This structured approach transforms digital transformation roadmap development from an overwhelming challenge into a manageable, collaborative process, enabling SMEs to develop actionable roadmaps aligned with their specific contexts and resources.
