Abstract – Developing a guide for healthy aging through a participatory approach Situated within the World Health Organization’s healthy aging framework, the Vieillissement en Santé (VIeSA) project aimed to create an informative and contextualized guide for older adults and professionals working in health or social sectors in the canton of Geneva. The guide was designed based on activities shown in the scientific literature as helping to preserve functional capacities and forms part of an individualized “healthy aging” pathway, integrated and coordinated within the Geneva network. At various stages, the project adopted a participatory approach by involving potential stakeholders. This article focuses on the initial participatory step undertaken during the development of the guide prototype. Five consultative-level focus groups were conducted, involving 36 voluntary participants (older adults, health and social care professionals, and canton/municipality representatives). The data were transcribed and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The results revealed both divergent and convergent viewpoints, followed by proposals for improving the guide’s content and its accessibility to a broader audience. These insights were then incorporated into the guide, which was subsequently field-tested alongside the implementation of personalized support.
