Weather is a key driver of agricultural markets, affecting both supply and quality. Focusing on Bordeaux fine wines, this study models how weather conditions shape vintage quality and secondary-market prices. It then derives fair release prices using a non-arbitrage framework linking primary and secondary markets, providing a contemporary update to Ashenfelter’s “Bordeaux equation” and showing that pricing inefficiencies originate at the château level.
