This article highlights the well-being ex-perienced by men who have distanced themselves from normative ideals of masculinity. It is based on sociological research into the processes of conscienti-zation and personal transformation of cis men. Analysis of the corpus revealed an ideal-typical pathway, marked by the ac-quisition of new ethical concerns, first focused on the self (a concern for knowledge, introspection, political con-scientization, and coherence), then mov-ing towards others (a concern for em-powerment, empathic connection, asser-tiveness, and adjustment). Conscien-tious and reflective, this ideal-typical man navigates different social spaces with ease and fluidity. Willing to let him-self and others be touched, he builds more satisfying relationships at work, in friendships or in intimacy, and enjoys a relationship with the world filled with resonance. In this way, he remedies the break that men are encouraged to make from childhood onwards with empathy, care, and all that is feminine, in order to conform to ideals of masculinity and benefit from privileges. At last, he tastes a new form of power that is conducive to cooperation.
