Therefore, this study aims to investigate whether the STRAIN intervention program (using evidence-based training for health professional leaders) can reduce work-related stress among health professionals. This study is based on a cluster randomised controlled trial, consists of three measurements and includes 165 participating hospitals, nursing homes and home care organisations. A total of 206 health professional leaders took part in the intervention programme and 19,340 health professionals participated in the study. Results showed no significant differences (p > 0.05) between the intervention and control group regarding the effort-reward imbalance ratio, quantitative demands, opportunities for development, bond with the organisation, quality of leadership, social community, role clarity, rewards, difficulties with demarcation and work–private life conflict. Pre-/post-test analysis revealed a tendency for significant positive results (p < 0.05) for stressors, stress symptoms and longterm consequences for organisations with a leaders’ participation rate of ≥ 75%. Leaders’ awareness, commitment and readiness is essential to implement effective strategies reducing work-related stress 000014922 540__ $$acorrect 000014922 592__ $$aHE-Arc Santé 000014922 592__ $$bRecherche appliquée et développement de la HE-ARC Santé 000014922 592__ $$cSanté 000014922 592__ $$dSoins infirmiers 000014922 65017 $$aSanté 000014922 6531_ $$9eng$$aWork-related stress 000014922 6531_ $$9eng$$aHealth professionals 000014922 6531_ $$9eng$$aTraining-based intervention 000014922 6531_ $$9eng$$aLeaders 000014922 6531_ $$9eng$$aRandomised controlled trial 000014922 655__ $$ascientifique 000014922 700__ $$aPeter, Karin Anne$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aVoirol, Christian$$uSchool of Health Sciences HE-Arc Santé, HES-SO University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland; Department of Psychology, Department of Medicine, University of Montreal, Montreal, Canada. 000014922 700__ $$aKunz, Stefan$$uDepartment of Business Economics, Health and Social Care, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, Lugano, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aSchwarze, Thomas$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aGurtner, Caroline$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aZeyer, Albert$$uUniversity of Teacher Education Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aBlasimann, Angela$$uDivision of Physiotherapy, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aGolz, Christoph$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aGurtner, Andrea$$uInstitute for New Work, Business School, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aRenggli, Fabienne$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 700__ $$aHahn, Sabine$$uDivision of Applied Research & Development in Nursing, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Bern, Switzerland 000014922 773__ $$tScientific Reports$$j2024, 10$$k14$$q23502 000014922 8564_ $$uhttps://arodes.hes-so.ch/record/14922/files/%5B2024%5D%20Voirol_Reducing%20work-related%20stress.pdf$$yPublished version$$975f35262-4e44-4ba4-b7f2-9d9edcb9dfd2$$s2723391 000014922 906__ $$aGOLD 000014922 909CO $$ooai:hesso.tind.io:14922$$pGLOBAL_SET 000014922 950__ $$aSan2 000014922 980__ $$ascientifique 000014922 981__ $$ascientifique
