Objective: This research brings a gender perspective on how digital transformation is perceived, experienced, managed and valued by the end users. It aims to determine to what extent gender could be considered a significant variable in the digital transformation of our society. Method: This article is based on a survey conducted among the population of the canton of Valais, Switzerland, to explore how digital services were used and adopted in this region and how demographic variables influenced such use and adoption. Conclusions: Data show that gender plays a significant role in how the digital transformation is lived by its end users. Men have greater interest in technology than women. The latter encounter more difficulties and have fewer skills regarding the use of technology. The type of online activities and benefits also differ by gender. The results of the research highlight the importance of better including women in the digital transformation of society.
